 MEMRI3 Technical Support FAQs

When I add insertions to a prototype in MEMRI3 Reach/Frequency, all my results become zeroes. Why?

The likely cause of this is that you’ve included insertions in one or more of the prototype’s parent media (the media on which the prototype is based) in the same reach/frequency analysis. This violates the mathematical models (Mello and Metheringham) that MEMRI uses to determine audience duplication between the titles as part of the calculation for the reach/frequency numbers. MEMRI is intentionally programmed to generate 0’s in this case, to notify the user that the calculations involved are invalid. To get around the problem, either remove the parent media from the r/f analysis, or find a new basis for the prototype.

When I click “Select Database/Study,” the Teenmark and Twelveplus studies are listed, but next to them it says, “data not installed correctly.”

Anyone can install these studies in their list, but not just everyone can use them – you have to subscribe. To ensure that you are a valid subscriber to Teenmark and/or TwelvePlus, MEMRI requires two things: (1) the sentinel device must be coded for Teenmark/Twelveplus, and (2) the MDX file for each study. To verify that you have a sentinel coded for these studies, the admin user of Memri 3 must go to the main menu and click the “MEMRI Preferences or Settings” button on the right. You will enter the “Preferences Properties” dialog box. Click once on the “Sentinel Information” tab, and look at the Sentinel String. In order to access Teenmark, you must have the code “tm” somewhere in the sentinel string; for Twelveplus, it’s “tp.” If you don’t have those codes in your string, you should delete the studies from the list – either you don’t subscribe (in which case, if you’re interested, you should call your sales rep) or your sentinel isn’t coded correctly (in which case, you should confirm your subscription with your sales rep and he or she will notify the MRI Production and Client Services departments to address the issue). If you do have the right code(s) in your sentinel, then you should call MRI Client Services about getting the right MDX file(s) properly installed on your system.

I’m supposed to have access to Consumer Innovators (or Leisure Styles, Local Markets, Upper Deck, Business to Business, Prizm, Psyte or MicroVision), but instead I’m getting zeroes when I code for it. Why can’t I see this data?

These data sets are available by subscription only. In order to keep non-subscribers from seeing the data, each of these data sets requires the presence of a customized MAX file, which MRI sends via email link or through Autoupdate to specific clients at the time that each data set is officially released. The MAX file contains the “index” that allows MEMRI to look for the special data set in the right place; if it’s not there, MEMRI will look at an empty data location. If you’re missing a MAX file, contact MRI Client Services, and we will verify your subscription and send you an email update that contains a correct and fully up-to-date MAX file.

I’m not seeing the latest data in the Autocoder, although I can hand-code it and the numbers look right. What’s going on?

The most likely explanation is that there is an outdated CBF file for this study in your override directory (this happens most frequently on standalones). The CBF file is the electronic codebook (autocode) file for MEMRI3 -- it allows you to keyword searches within the study. This file is among the most complicated files that MRI creates for each study; thus, it is one of the most likely to require revision. If MRI sends a revised CBF file for a given study, it gets installed in a temporary “override” directory, and it will be automatically removed if you perform the data update when you do an update via Autoupdate or Email Links sent by MRI Data Updates.

When choosing a new study and pulling data, I get a "Can not mount data" error message or a "Vector Error"

This usually happens when the data file is corrupted. To fix this problem you will have to reload the data and overwrite the existing study to make sure the corrupted file is fixed.

When I open Memri3, I get a sentinel -60 error.

When you get this error, this usually means that either the sentinel is not plugged in correctly or that the NSP Host is incorrect. To correct the issue, you should have the admin user make sure the NSP Host (IP Address) is correct according to which machine is hosting the sentinel and also make sure the sentinel is plugged in correctly and the service is running. Running the new Sentinel Driver will enable firewalls to add the port to the sentinel. Call MRI Client Services for the link for the most recent Sentinel Driver.

After I run the update to download a new study, it does not show up on the data list.

Sometimes if you restart your Memri 3 application it will show up, if not, you can manually ad the study but first make sure you can see the study folder in the Data folder. After you have confirmed that its there, go to Settings or Preferences then go to the "Available Databases" tab then click "Add" and choose the "Scan (your path to your data folder will be listed afterwards)" and you should see any new studies available to add to your data list, then just hit OK.

How do I set myself as an Admin user of Memri 3?

The way to do this will be as follows: Go to START, RUN, type in REGEDIT. Here you will go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/ SOFTWARE/ MEDIAMARK/ MEMRI2/ 3.0.0 and on the right had side you will see a blue key called SERVER. Doubleclick on that SERVER key and change the "Value Data" from a "0" to a "1" and hit OK. Then restart the Memri 3 application.

In a LAN setup, how can I add another workstation with Memri 3 software?

To add another user, you must first make sure the user is mapped to the folder which the Memri program resides in. Within the Memri 3 folder, you should have a subfolder called Program. In this folder you will find a WorkstationInstaller.bat or Wkstinst.bat and run this .bat file from the new user computer to register the components. Keep in mind that some .bat files are preset to add the registery and the desktop Icon, if your .bat does not have this, go to C:\program files and create a Mediamark folder, then a subfolder called Memri3 and then a subfolder called Save then simply run the .bat file from the Network Memri3\Program folder, then click on the Memri.exe and create a shortcut to desktop.

I run MEMRI3 on a network, and I need to move the sentinel from one computer to another. How do I get the driver?

Call MRI Client Services for the link for the most recent Sentinel Driver.
